About the Department
The Department of Mathematics at Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Arts College was established in the year 1998 with an under graduate course. Initially student's strength was 30. Since then the department has been climbing the ladder of success and by 2010, the intake was increased to 44 students. It was further increased to 50 during the academic year 2016-17.
At present the department consists of 5 faculty members; 3 with doctorate degrees, 1 pursuing doctorate degree in various fields.
Vision
To impart sufficient mathematical foundation to the rural students enabling them to become mathematical thinkers and lifelong learners.
Mission
The mission of the mathematics department is to provide an environment where rural students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical applications. Moreover, the department will contribute to the development of rural students as mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners, to continue to grow in their chosen professions, and to function as dynamic citizens of India.
In pursuing this mission, primary departmental functions are the development, dissemination, and application of mathematical knowledge
