About the Department
The Department of French was established during the academic year 2005-06 to cater the needs of the students studying Tourism and Travel Management. Later, the Department offered foundational courses in French for other disciplines as well. Pondicherry being a former colony of the French Government, culturally needs the education and imparting of French language in spoken and written forms. The department of French enables students from rural and humble backgrounds to learn the much sought after French language which creates many job opportunities and overseas openings. These less privileged students who cannot afford to learn French from private institutes have greatly been benefitted since the introduction of the above said course in this institution.
